I saw this ring sling up for sale in the BST (buy/sell/trade group) on Facebook for an amazingly low price and I had to have it. I love Apple Blossom Wovens and I’ve been wanting to try out their hemp with Tot. He’s been getting bigger and heavier and I’ve heard that hemp is perfect for toddlers so I jumped at the chance to get it.
This was a conversion done by Cozy Cuties, LLC and it was pretty nice. They did their hybrid shoulder and it was comfortable. I was a fan. It was cushy and it capped my shoulder well. There wasn’t too much fabric, I wasn’t overwhelmed by it at all.
This ring sling was so easy to get Tot up in. It feels a lot thinner than the other blends that I’ve tried with ABW. I think it’s the marvelousness of the hemp. It’s solid and doesn’t stretch at all. It goes through the rings wonderfully and just stays put. I feel like it molded well to our bodies, as you can see in the photos below. It made a great seat underneath Tot’s bottom and around my shoulder.
At first, it was a bit of a work out before it was broken it, but once it broke it – it was a dream. The hemp made it feel like it was a bit of a workhorse – it took just a bit more time for it to break in than one of ABW’s cotton wraps, but it wasn’t a chore at all. It felt almost a little scratchy, but not too bad at all.
As always, here are some macro shots. I feel like you can definitely see the texture in these. Hemp had a different texture that I wasn’t quite familiar with, but grew to like. It’s almost fuzzy. I feel like the impurities are what makes it fun. The texture really helped with the grip. There was no slipping at all, through the rings. I did quite a few back carries with this ring sling and there was no sagging. It was good on our grocery shopping trips.
Aren’t the colors of this wonderful? I love what ABW comes up with. It’s so pretty. I love looking at the weave. I love seeing what makes a wrap a wrap. The different threads are all woven in different patterns, but that makes one big pattern. I can’t wait to see what Apple Blossom Wovens comes out with next!
